Local Law Enforcement
Roughly 50 vehicles have been covered with what seems to be human blood in the Germany's city of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.
Vehicles, exterior walls and mailboxes were vandalized, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they stated in a official communication.
Officers state they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday, when a resident discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued liquid.
The substance had been placed in the pattern of a banned symbol, they stated.
Law enforcement then located many other smeared automobiles and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
These symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws banning the public display of Nazi symbols.
Police report initial examinations suggest the liquid was likely blood from a person.
"There is still no clue as to where it came from; investigators are not yet informed of any harm in association with the occurrence," they stated.
City officials stated they were attempting "to solve the incident" and have asked to the public for details.
A high-ranking official commented the vandalism left him speechless and had to be solved promptly.
"This event hits the center of Hanau and revives the wounds of the far-right violent incident in 2020," he wrote on online, referring to the death of nine individuals by a gunman focusing on people of migrant background in February 2020.
