19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 championships have been achieved on hard courts
A resurgent Medvedev secured his first title for 882 days with a win over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.
The Russian, a ex- number one, has endured a difficult season, managing just a single victory at the major tournaments and undergoing a setback at the New York tournament.
Medvedev's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serve in specific - caused him dropping out of the world's top 10 and ultimately splitting with long-time coach Cervara.
Now training with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has gradually progressed in the past month - climaxing in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over challenger Moutet.
It is Medvedev's first trophy after the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hardcourt since that period of that year.
The win also indicates he has achieved twenty-one titles at 21 different events.
"This marks the first occasion I have attended a event with my two daughters at once, so to get a championship is really nice," stated ranked player Daniil Medvedev.
"This victory is in tribute of my younger daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I won when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."
The athlete, the former major winner, had failed in his previous six title deciders, including in the German tournament earlier this year.
The player's counter-punching approach and frequent reactions on the playing surface had caused observers to doubt if his ability to compete at the highest level was over.
However the athlete has made changes in recent weeks, making an effort to come to the net and perform assertively, backed up by an enhanced serve.
The champion fought back from a break down in the opening set against the tricky Frenchman, taking four of the last five points to gain the advantage.
The pair exchanged breaks in the second set before Moutet, bidding for his initial tour victory, seized the initiative to force a decider.
He saved 4 early-game opportunities in a tight deciding set before the champion won the break to 15 to serve for the match.
Suitably, Medvedev clinched the win with a point at the net, with the Frenchman incapable to handle a volley after over two and a half hours.
